Purple Haze 8-23-11

I don't think I have to tell you what the color theme for my outfit is.  Purple is the color of choice today.  The look I was going for is 70's urban bohemian.  I pair this rich purple billowy silky top with a black form fitting skirt.  With the fullness of the blouse, I belt it with a black belt with feather accents on the buckle.  Going with the feather theme, I add a dainty feather necklace.  To top it off (literally) my 70's look is complete with my eggplant vintage Kutz fur felt hat.  At the end of the day I have an In-N-Out craving so gotta take a picture of me with my hamburger in hand, french fries and root beer!  Of course looking very hip and stylish in my outfit while chowing down ;)  Mmmmmm, that was good!

Denim Dreamin! 8-22-11

Denim is the theme for today's outfit.  What inspired me is this denim top.  I just love the ruffle and tie on the back of the shirt which has a big tear drop cut out.  The front of the shirt is plain which I am glad it was designed this way.  The focus is on the back of shirt.  For this top I paired it with a similar wash color flared jean. It almost looks like it is one piece.  I cut the line by adding a brown leather belt.  To add some color I tied a Pucci-esque scarf on my head.  Overall I feel like a rock star and all I need is my electric guitar and mic!  Keep on rockin!

Relaxed Sunday 8-21-11

Yes it's Sunday and a day to just kick back, relax, run errands, do chores or for me on this particular Sunday at my local Starbucks with my iced coffee and laptop :)  Here I am sporting a pair of dark wash boot cut jeans with my gray hoodie and brown jacket.  Pretty simple, basic and nothing binding.  Ah!  I can breathe while I surf the internet and work on my blog!  Happy Sunday!

Tartan Friday 8-19-11

It's Friday!  That usually means jean day for me.  So here I wear a pair of long lean flare jeans and style it with a simple red and black plaid button down shirt and over that another plaid print wool blazer.  That's it!  I have nothing more to say about this outfit only that it is very comfy yet stylish.  Here is to Casual Fridays!

Ladylike Tweed 8.15.11

Sunday Funday 8.14.11

Usually on the weekends I stay fashionable yet relaxed.  When I am out and about like here on my way to see the Piscasso exhibit at the De Young Museum, I chose a skirt with denim shirt tucked in and flat knee length boots.  When there is a lot of walking around, I definitely pick a shoe I can walk in all day.  I complete my look here with a Missoni scarf and a green tweed newsboy hat.  A sporty fun look and at the end of the day my feet will not be killing me me :)  And if you happen to be in SF, go check out the Picasso show!  It is only here until Oct 10th.  Great exhibit :)

Polka Dots, Leopard and Plaid Oh My! 8.10.11

Mixing prints is my thing!  So here is one of the many outfits that I will be showcasing this trend.  What I think is key to pulling off this look is not to go over more than three kinds of prints at once and CONFIDENCE is very important!.  Also, this might be extreme for most people to pull off.  It is not for everyone.  For me, I do not have fashion boundaries so I am willing to try something new...at least experiment to see if it works or not.  So here, I have on a  b&w polka dot skirt with a leopard blouse that is ruffled and ties at the front.  Then I use bold color with a bright orange skinny belt and green blazer.  The third print is the plaid on my headband.  As for shoes I go with a neutral tan high heel bootie.  Overall, I think this is a refreshing change to the usual boring office attire.  It's fun and colorful and definitely puts you in a happy mood.
If you want to experiment mixing prints in your wardrobe but not sure where to start try with just two kinds of prints in the same color palette and textures.  Leopard now is considered a neutral :)  You can pair a leopard with stripes or a floral print if the color scheme is similar.  It will add texture and dimension to your outfit....and you will not look like you dressed in the dark. ;) Also stick to one bold color print too.  Actually the leopard and polka dots on my outfit are my neutrals and the bright colors are my accents.  So have fun with it!  Give it a try!  It doesn't have to be brain surgery.  Fashion is all about having fun and exploring ways to create a style.

Here are some examples of mixing prints.  Stick to a similar color theme.
